Catawba: River at Risk (Dir. Nic Samuelson). Documentary. While Carolinians enjoy the Catawba River, its future is uncertain at best. Known as one of the most endangered waterways in America, a group of river-keepers struggle to fight polluters and educate the population.

This free event, designed for kids aged 6-12, will give aspiring cartoonists and filmmakers the chance to gain hands-on experience with the craft of animation. The morning kicks off with a short lesson led by professional filmmakers at the Nick and then moves outside to a craft tent where participants can make their own cartoon by drawing directly on film.  After the workshop winds down at 11:30am, be sure to stick around for a family-friendly concert by John English, a local children's performer. And head back to the Nick at 1:00pm for the world premiere of the workshop films on the big screen!
