But I'm French (20 mins.)

Terry Roueche (Rock Hill, SC)
Saturday 6:15 PM at the Fox Theatre
In 1830, two brothers left their village in the Alsace region of France to settle in the Piedmont of North Carolina. Nearly 180 years later the only clue Terry Roueche had about the origin of his father's family was the name of the village, Angeot. In the summer of 2008, Roueche traveled across France in search of the family Roueche. His first stop was the cemetery in Angeot where he made a connection to his French roots. From there, he journeyed to meet descendants of the Roueche family across France. The surname Roueche is rare in the United States as well as France. All Roueche families  can be traced to a family in eastern France who immigrated there from Switzerland in the early 1700s.
