She Sank on Shallow Bank is a collaborative project between Artist and Filmmaker Clifton Childree and Dancer and Performance Artist Nikki Rollason. Using stop-motion animation, sculptural sets and dance, the film creates a disjointed narrative of the dreamlike psyche of a girl who has washed upon the bank of a bay, there her body interacts with the flotsam on the beach. The girl and all of the objects become like a company of dancers synchronizing as well as instigating and reacting to each other. Original music score by Daniel Hosker and sound effects by Childree create a beautiful and haunting atmosphere, completing a short film that harkens back to early surrealistic filmmaking and continues to push the envelope of contemporary film and installation art, as well as redefining ways to present dance.
