Atlanta Roadshow

When: August 8, 2015
Where: Eyedrum

On August 8th, we held our very first Indie Grits Roadshow for the upcoming 10th annual Indie Grits Festival in 2016!

Working together with the fabulous Contraband Cinema–an Atlanta-based microcinema group–we used the rooftop of Eyedrum to showcase the world of Indie Grits. Featuring short films from previous years, a taste of live music and poetry, and the ebullient vibes of our past festivals, guests enjoyed festivities, drinks, and the Atlanta skyline with us through the night.

Screen Shot 2015-08-19 at 5.15.52 PMWe were joined by Atlanta locals, Salsa Chest, who kicked off the night with some sundown serenades involving precise choreography and cosmic synthesizer riffs. Connor Brunson delivered some beautiful spoken word pieces for the intermission. However, the majority of the night was dedicated to film. We played short films from Josh Yates, and Jen West – who were in attendance. As well, we filled the night up with a spectrum–experimental, heartbreaking, straight-laced, documentary, narrative–all sorts of Gritsy movies from various previous years. It was a spectacular event befitting a spectacular city.
