Super Excited for the MIRC Super Sampler

Posted: 12:28 PM

One of Columbia's finest treasures is the University of South Carolina's Moving Image Research Collections.  We are extremely excited to be partnering with them this year to offer what looks to be a great program.

Mark Cooper, Interim Director of MIRC, sends us the following today:

The University of South Carolina’s Moving Image Research Collections offers Indie Grits a Super Sampler of archival film. From our new Chinese Film Collection comes the animated chronicle of a young rabbit’s winter adventures. Home movies from our diverse Regional Film Collections show how independent thinkers kept the cocktails flowing during Prohibition. Local television news footage from the late 60s and early 70s reveals South Carolina’s Indie spirit in this turbulent period (including a visit from Jane Fonda). Recently donated film by University of South Carolina alumnus John E. Lewis tells the amazing story of a 1972 Chambers Brothers concert in what is now Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. The program will be presented with commercial interruptions as televised in the Midlands circa1980.

 We can't wait!!!
